Buchans South Zinc Project
- 4,030 acres (1,631 Ha)
- 65 mineral claims
- Adjacent to the historical Buchans mine that produced 16 million tonnes of zinc over 58 years
The Buchans South Zinc Project is located within the historic Buchans Mining District in central Newfoundland, which has delivered some of Canada’s highest-grade zinc ore including at the past-producing Buchans VMS mine. The Buchans Mining District is undergoing an exploration renaissance led by modern-day exploration techniques not previously deployed in the area. The project consists of 65 mineral claims covering 4,030 acres (1,631 hectares) and is located adjacent to mineral tenure held by Adventus Zinc Corp. Eastern Zinc is focused on generating VMS-related zinc targets within this project area.
The Buchans deposits rank amongst the world’s most prolific polymetallic (Zn-Pb-Cu-Au-Ag) VMS deposits, however compared to other VMS camps worldwide it has probably seen the least amount of exploration. The Buchans Camp produced 16.2 Mt averaging 14.50% zinc, 7.56% lead, 1.33% copper, 126 g/t silver, and 1.37 g/t gold over a 58-year mine life.
